In Bihar, neither the liquor business is shutting down nor the drinkers are being controlled. Half a dozen people have died in the past in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s home district due to alcohol, but the police administration is not taking the name of closing down the liquor business. A large mob has joined, which is causing a lot of trouble for the police. The latest case is Sohan Sarai of Nalanda.
Nalanda: In the Khasganj area of Sohsarai police station area, angry people blocked the road near Khasganj turn late on Wednesday evening and created a commotion. Residents of the area allege that those who did not drink alcohol and were not involved in the liquor business were forcibly arrested by Excise Department officials and taken away.
Locals tried to rescue the accused by attacking police and excise department officials. At the time of his arrest, protesters pelted stones at excise department vehicles and tried to rescue the detainees. But they did not succeed due to insufficient police presence. Product inspector Vijay Kumar said intelligence was received that some people were sitting and drinking. A team from the product department arrived there on this information.
Two bags of liquor seized, three arrested Excise team also seized 2 sacks of liquor from the spot. Those arrested include Akhilesh Kumar, Hari Krishna Prasad and Chandan Paswan. It is being investigated whether these people had any connection with the alcohol seized as they were drinking alcohol. As soon as the information was received, SHO Munna Kumar of Sohsarai rushed to the spot and settled the matter after persuading the people. Meanwhile, long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the road. Due to which the people going to attend the wedding had to face difficulties.
