Max Goldman said: I contacted Larry about replacing a cracked windshield and left him a voice message. He responded quickly and quoted the job within an hour. His price was fair and I scheduled the work. He came to my house and replaced the windshield in the driveway. It took about 1 hour. During the replacement, a small windshield wiper piece broke. Larry took full responsibility to get the job done right. He procured the new piece and came by a few days later to install it. Thank you Larry for your excellent service.

Nolan Goldberg said: Thanks to Larry Reese, owner of Larry’s Glass Service for a great windshield replacement on the S4 Avant. He’s been in business since 1970 and still does his own work with his apprentice/assistant. I was referred to Larry by Dan Lohuis and Ron Butler of Butler C&D Body Shop. He asked if the windshield had been replaced before. When I said “Yes.”, he asked to inspect the car first as glass companies often damage moldings, use excessive sealant/adhesive, etc. that complicate proper replacement. Mine was replaced in 2005 by Triumph Auto Glass (now out of business – bought by Safelight). He found evidence of excessive urethane at the top molding which is normally reused and recommended that we order the molding, too, as the old one will likely not lay properly.

Once they opened the job today, it was apparent that Larry knew what he was talking about as it had been installed incorrectly and the drain channels in the A-pillars and along the cowl at the base of the glass were almost completely obstructed with excessive urethane. They carefully removed all of the old urethane, primed the opening and properly laid in the new windshield. It’s a joy to watch a master and owner of 47 years experience do this work. His hands just know where to go and what to do.

I paid a premium to get the exact factory Pilkington/Audi logo windshield, but he was right in line with other companies on this same specification and is competitive, not necessarily the lowest, on aftermarket glass for any car.

If you need a windshield or other glass, you won’t pay too much or too little and his care and attention are worth a bit extra. Call Larry.

Work was not brain surgery but required tools and a skill set beyond my capabilities. I watched from start to finish and was impressed by the attention to detail. The job (at his location) took less time than most oil changes I’ve had and the price was about 40% less than local competitors. Highest recommendation.
