Delhi: DDA (Delhi Development Authority) has extended the date of special housing scheme for old flats to December 2021. According to the DDA, the deadline has been extended keeping in view the demand of the public and Kovid. At the time of commencement of the scheme, the last date to apply for it was 7th February, which has now been extended to 10th March.

According to sources, the scheme has received less applications than flats. While DDA made a special offer in this scheme. However, the date of the scheme has been extended due to low response. So far a total of 16 thousand applications have been received for about 18500 flats under this scheme. The plans are completely online. According to people, flats under DDA scheme are 20 to 25 per cent more expensive than private builders. Although the size of DDA flats has increased, people are avoiding buying expensive flats because of covid.

The DDA has claimed in the scheme that the defects in the old flat have been rectified. In this scheme Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. There are flats up to 2.14 crore. The flats which were surrendered by the people in January 2021 are also included in the current scheme. These flats are available at a discounted rate. According to a DDA official, the rates for these flats will increase from April 1, 2022. In such a situation, this is the last chance for people to buy a flat at this price. In various EWS flats in Narela, DDA has given 10 to 40 percent discount on construction costs.

However, one of the reasons for the low application in the scheme is that there are various charges for applying for this housing scheme. This is the first time the DDA has imposed an application processing fee. With registration fee, Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2000 application processing fee has been charged. It is not refundable. This fee is for all classes EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG.

At the same time, after the draw, up to 15 days from the date of issue of the allotment letter, 10% of the registration fee or Rs. Cum allotment letter, from 31st day to 90 days. 50% of the registration fee and after 90 days full registration fee will be forfeited. Until the scheme was launched in January 2021, DDA was offering full refunds to people on surrender within 15 days after the draw date and demand letter was issued. That is why people are now applying with understanding. Gone are the days of people who used to get their money back just by applying. Due to these two clauses, if people surrender the flat after applying, they will lose about 4500 to 22 thousand rupees.
