Marathi film actor and NCP MP Amol Kolhe is embroiled in controversy. Amol is facing criticism these days for playing the role of Nathuram Godse in his upcoming film. “I have never endorsed the thoughts and actions of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassins,” Amol Kolhe (Godse film) said in a statement on Friday. NCP leader and Maharashtra government minister Jitendra Awhad has also attacked Kolha.

Kolhe released a video to clarify

At the same time, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asked Kolhapur to clarify his stance on Godse. Kolhe, an MP from Shirur in western Maharashtra, released a video message on Friday. Kolhe said, “It seems that many people are saddened by Godse’s role in the Hindi film ‘Why I Killed Gandhi’ … I have never endorsed Godse’s actions or his views against Mahatma Gandhi.”

Kolhe said- Actor like Pran also played a negative role but …

Regarding the circumstances behind playing the role of Godse, Kolha said that after playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji, he wanted to play the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji (Shivaji’s son) in a TV or a movie. Kolha, who has done MBBS, said that he got an offer for a serial on Sambhaji, but the shooting stopped a few days later. He said that at the same time, in 2017, he got an offer to play the role of Godse in a film directed by Ashok Tyagi. Kolhe said actors like the late Neelu Phule or Prana played negative roles in films, but in real life he was a progressive person.

Kolhe said he did not even promote the film
“I want to reiterate that I do not support Godse’s ideology,” he said. Kolhe said he did not even promote the film. He said, “As an actor in 2017, I wanted to get a role in films. It should be understood and seen in that context. Meanwhile, Nana Patole, head of the Maharashtra unit of the Congress, said his party condemned the support and propaganda of those who assassinated Gandhi.

The NCP minister said, “We are supporting Godse’s ideas to play a role.”

State BJP chief Chandrakant Patil said Kolha should clarify his stance on Godse and his views as his leader (NCP chief) Sharad Pawar does not accept Godse’s views. Earlier, after the trailer of the film came out, NCP leader and state Home Minister Jitendra Awhad had targeted Kolhe on the issue. “He (Kolha) played the role of Godse as an actor, but that really supports his ideas,” Avhad said.

NCP region president defended, said- role before joining NCP

However, Jayant Patil, head of the NCP’s Maharashtra unit, tried to defend Kolhe. Patil said, “Kolha completed the shooting of the film in 2017. He joined the NCP a few months before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. After that film, Kolha also played the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a Marathi serial. People have accepted him as an MP along with the actor. Patil said, “He has also done well in the Lok Sabha. You can watch his speeches on YouTube. He was accompanied by Shahu Maharaj, Jyotirao Phule and Dr. It has also endorsed the ideas of great social reformers like Babasaheb Ambedkar. We condemn the film (based on Godse). ‘
